IMPACTING YOUNG WOMEN aging out of foster care

Providing A Solid Foundation For The Future

Our Mission

To empower young women aging out of foster care with a solid foundation for their future by providing them the opportunity to enter DORIS, Dade-County Oceanic Recreation and Interactive Studies, to help them obtain skills to become a valuable member of a Yacht crew.

DORIS Bounty of the Sea
Doris, in Greek Methology, means

Who Is Doris?

In Greek mythology, Doris was a sea goddess belonging to a group of goddesses called sea nymphs or Oceanids. She was the wife of the sea-god Nereus and the mother of the fifty Nereides.

Unlike many sea gods and goddesses, Doris was a kind and nurturing ruler. Doris is known to mean “bounty of the sea” as she was credited with providing food and habitat for all ocean creatures.

Who We Are

Angelina Giambri, AKA Captain Ang, has been running a successful boat charter business, Angel Charters, since obtaining her 100-ton Masters' Captains License.

She founded DORIS Bounty of the Sea, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, to give back to the community that has supported her. The organization uses profits from Angel Charters and donations to empower and help young women aging out of Foster Care train and obtain their Stewardess Certification for employment on yachts for a promising future.

Why We Serve

When children placed in foster care reach the maximum age that a state will support them (18 – 21) without being reunited with family or being placed in a permanent home, it’s called aging out.

Sometimes it’s as cold as having a child sign paperwork on their 18th birthday and sending them out of a group home onto the streets with a trash bag of their clothing.

Our Impact

At DORIS, we are committed to providing life-changing opportunities to young women aging out of foster care. Through our nationwide network, our team and the DORIS ProgramDade-County Oceanic Recreation and Interactive Studies, we help aid participants in finding stewardess opportunities where they learn and work as a valued member of a yacht crew while seeking to obtain a stewardess certification for a paid, full-time position.

Our support provides a foundation for an exciting career on the seas with zero cost to participants.

By helping to provide young women aging out of foster care with a high paying job and life skills, we empower them to be successful.
